Established in 2019, Solis Contracting is a locally owned, Kingston based, residential construction business providing custom, high quality home renovations.

As a result of increased demand for our services, we are seeking a Junior or Intermediate carpenter to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in a variety of construction techniques including deconstruction, framing, drywall, and finish carpentry. Experience in tile setting is an asset.

 JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1-3 years of experience in the home renovation business or carpentry trade

  • Knowledge of building systems and how each individual task impacts achieving quality finishes

  • Proficient with manual and power tools as well as measuring devices 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in loading and unloading work vehicles

  • Complete assigned work with a high level of accuracy and efficiency

  • Cut, shape, and finish lumber and other materials according to measurements

  • Use logic and reason to identify solutions as required

  • Maintain standards of cleanliness and organization of vehicles, on job sites, and shop/yard area

  • Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures to ensure work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner

  • Communicate with customers as required in a polite and courteous manner

SKILLS:

  • Must work well in a team environment and be flexible to changing requirements

  • A superior attitude towards customer service and a strong work ethic is required to succeed in this position

  • Manages time efficiently and works independently

  • Takes initiative in daily tasks

  • Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing assigned work tasks

  • Must be reliable, with excellent attendance

  • Have a G-license and clean driving record; has own transportation to/from work sites

  • Must be physically fit and be able to lift 50 lbs

  • Working at Heights Certification would be considered an asset

  • First Aid Training would be considered an asset

  • WHMIS Training would be considered an asset

  • Clean criminal records check
